• Scan History: Records of your scanned products stored locally on your device for quick access to previously scanned items
• Subscription Information: Through RevenueCat, our payment processor, we process subscription transactions. RevenueCat handles all payment-related data according to their privacy policy
• Analytics Data: Firebase and Mixpanel collect anonymized usage patterns, app performance metrics, and crash reports to help us improve app stability and features

Image Processing and Data Usage

PureScan processes food product images to provide nutritional information, ingredient identification, and allergen warnings. Here's how we handle your scanned images:

• Collection: We collect product images only when you actively scan a food product using the camera feature or upload an image from your device.
• Usage: Images are processed to identify barcodes, read product labels, extract ingredient lists, and match products to our nutritional database. This analysis provides you with comprehensive product information including nutritional facts, allergen warnings, and dietary compatibility.
• Storage: Product images are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored on our servers. Images are temporarily cached during processing and then deleted once analysis is complete. Your scan history (product names and data) may be stored locally on your device for quick reference.
• Third-Party Sharing: Product images are never shared with third parties. We may share anonymized product scanning statistics with Firebase and Mixpanel for analytics purposes, but no personally identifiable information or images are included.
• Retention Period: Product images are retained only during the immediate scanning session (typically seconds). After processing, only the extracted product information is retained locally on your device based on your preferences.

You can revoke camera access and delete your scan history at any time through your device settings or within the application settings.

Nutritional Information Sources

PureScan provides accurate nutritional information and ingredient analysis based on trusted databases and scientific sources. We believe in transparency about our data sources:

• Nutritional Database: Our product information is sourced from multiple authoritative databases including:
  • USDA FoodData Central database
  • Open Food Facts - a collaborative database of food products from around the world
  • FDA National Nutrient Database
  • Manufacturer-provided product information
• Allergen Information: Allergen warnings are compiled from product labels, manufacturer declarations, and cross-reference with established allergen databases.
• Data Accuracy: We regularly update our database to ensure information accuracy. However, product formulations may change, so we recommend verifying critical information (especially allergens) directly from product packaging.
• In-App Information: Within the app, you can access detailed information about data sources by tapping the "Info" icon on any product screen.

While our app provides comprehensive nutritional information, it is not intended to replace professional medical or dietary advice. Always consult with healthcare professionals or registered dietitians for personalized dietary guidance, especially if you have allergies, medical conditions, or specific dietary requirements.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain our food scanning and analysis service

Your scan history and preferences are stored locally on your device using secure storage mechanisms. For subscription management, we use RevenueCat, a trusted third-party service that implements industry-standard security measures to protect your payment information. We do not store or process payment information directly. Analytics data is securely transmitted to Firebase and Mixpanel using encrypted connections, and all data is anonymized to protect your privacy.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We may share your information with the following trusted third-party services:

• RevenueCat: For processing and managing your subscription payments and entitlements
• Firebase (Google): For analytics, crash reporting, and app performance monitoring. Firebase collects anonymized usage data to help us improve the app. See Google's Privacy Policy for more information
• Mixpanel: For advanced analytics and user behavior analysis to understand how features are used and improve user experience. All data shared with Mixpanel is anonymized

None of these third parties have access to your product images. They only receive anonymized usage statistics and technical data necessary for providing their services.
